What makes this iconic Star Wars original movie franchise so endearing and enduring, cutting across generations and continents, ever since its first film release in 1977?

In the words of Scott Mendelson, Forbes contributor:

“In terms of inspiring legions of fans and ongoing popularity on the basis of a cinematic franchise, Star Wars was not only among the first of its kind, but perhaps the last of its kind as well.”

Star Wars Day, observed on May 4, was essentially created by their fans from what started as a pun from the movie’s “May the Force be with you” catchphrase. What started from fandom was then fully embraced by Lucasfilm, the film company that created this world of Jedi, Sith, stormtroopers, X-wings, lightsabers, and many more.

Beyond its rich characters and story line of good vs evil, there are many insights that business and organisational leaders can learn from the whole epic saga.
