Last month, the crème de la crème of Malaysia’s business community gathered to celebrate the third annual HR Excellence Awards ceremony by Human Resources, a publication of Lighthouse Independent Media at the stylish Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral.

The prestigious event hosted a profusion of glamorous guests, who were all eager to see who would be taking home the 23 coveted awards, with gold, silver and bronze presentations given to the best industry performers.

The HR Excellence Awards shines a light on the brightest and best of Malaysia, highlighting successes across a number of categories including HR strategic planning, talent management, employee engagement and employee leadership, to name just a few.

Picking the winners for each of the categories was no easy feat, given the spate of illustrious organisations considered for each of the awards. No fewer than 17 highly-regarded industry professionals took on the arduous role of judging the entries, and were finally able to select the best of the best after much consideration.

The judges included CIMB’s Sophia Kim, Datin Rowena Florece of Microsoft, TalentCorp’s Johan Mahmood Merican, and Yeoh Sai Yew of AirAsia.

As well as category awards for organisations, the HR Excellence Awards event also aims to recognise top talent from within the business world, offering the hugely desirable HR Professional of the Year – an award presented to an individual, rather than a company, to celebrate their personal achievements in helping their organisation achieve excellence in their field.

The glitz and glamour of the event not only recognises the best Malaysia has to offer; it also helps businesses to place themselves on a pedestal and show that they are the place for young professionals to enhance their skills and develop their reputation as top talents.

Indeed, the HR Excellence Awards is one of Asia’s largest award shows dedicated to celebrating the achievements within HR profession, with winners setting the benchmark for the HR industry and recognised as the top performers not only in Malaysia but across the whole of Asia.

If the past two years of the awards have proved anything, it’s that the standard of HR professionals throughout Malaysia is ever-increasing. This makes for a highly-competitive business community that seeks not only to improve within itself, but also works to transform the nation by driving the economy forward, helping Malaysia to take steps towards its goal of becoming a high-income, developed nation.

There’s no doubt that Malaysia is proud of its growing business community and the progress it continues to push forward year-on-year. The HR Excellence Awards is the ideal platform on which to show off the best of the best within the HR profession, and this year has highlighted the incredible work carried out by organisations throughout the country to improve employee engagement and cultivate best practice in the workplace. We’re sure that next year will present an even tougher challenge for the judges to sort through entries for 2016.

Well done and a hearty congratulations to all of this year’s entrants, winners and runners-up – the hard work for next year begins now. We’ll see you all at the next annual HR Excellence Awards event!

“The judging process was challenging this year, and the winners of every category proved to our jury that they are dedicated to bringing the HR standards across Asia to new heights. The number of companies that submitted entries this year far exceeded that of previous years. That along with the fantastic turnout of HR professionals on the awards night proves that HR Excellence Awards will continue to grow leaps and bounds in Malaysia.”
