1. Training Assistance Scheme for Employers (SBL)
HRDF offers initiatives such as online distance learning; development programmes; coaching; mentoring and mobile learning applications for employees.

2. Special Training Assistance Scheme (SBL-Khas)
HRDF provides grants for any training programme tailored to the needs of employers that have registered with them. This encourages employers to retrain their employees and upgrade their skills to meet specific business needs.

3. Purchase of Training & IT Equipment
Up to 100% funding for companies to buy basic training equipment and set up training rooms. HRDF also lets companies claim for the purchase of personal computers worth up to RM25,000 every three years.

4. Industrial Training
Employers get 100% financial assistance (subject to terms and conditions) when they sponsor university, college or training centre students to do their industrial training at their premises.

5. Recognition Prior Learning
Employers who actively push their employees to get certified for specific skills and experiences are eligible for financial aid.

6. Future Workers’ Training
HRDF gives financial aid to companies that equip ‘future employees’ with the required skills and competencies (pre-employment training) before they are hired as permanent workers.

7. Computer-Based Training
Employers are able to purchase training software, develop specific computer-based training programmes with prior approval from HRDF.

8. SME Training Partners
HRDF works with trainers who provide functional and up-skilling training that is focused on specialised learning and development programmes, including those that are not widely available in the market.

9. SME Training Needs Analysis (TNA)
HRDF offers consultancy services — fully subsidised –to analyse training needs and implement structured programmes at the enterprise level.

10. SME On-The-Job Training
SMEs can get HRDF’s help to train their workers and reduce the need to send a worker for training externally.

4 Awesome HRDF initiatives you probably didn’t know exist

1. 1Malaysia Outplacement Centre (1MOUC) – 1MOUC acts as a one-stop hub to assist retrenched local workers enhance their employability through designated training programmes and career counselling by professionals. To faciliatate this, a newly-launched mobile application allows users to locate jobs based on their qualification, interest and location and apply for it on the go. The 1moutplacement app can be downloaded from Play Store or the App Store

2. Train and Replace Programme (T&R) – This programme aims to upgrade the skills and competencies of local workers to reduce the nation’s dependency on foreign expertise in semi-skilled and skilled areas of work. This initiative will help employers reduce company cost in managing foreign workers.

3. Graduates Enhancement Programme for Employability (GENERAtE) – This programme allows employers or employer associations to request financial aid to train unemployed Malaysian graduates for high value jobs, enabling companies to increase productivity while they (graduates) earn a higher income.

4. Rural Accelerated Industrial Skills for Employment (RAISE) – RAISE provides an opportunity for rural youths to gain specific skills required by employers and after the training, be absorbed as their employees. This initiative is expected to increase employability of rural youth and assist employers to gain job-specific talents locally.
