National Aspiration and Leadership Summit (NALS) is an annual event organised by Malaysian youths. It is a proud advocate of youth empowerment and a medium of self-growth for many Malaysian youths studying locally and abroad.

The movement has sent volunteers to collaborate with various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the spirit of volunteerism and reaching out to diverse communities.

The event details are as follows:

Leaderonomics as a learning partner for NALS 2017 caught up with Perak-native Nur Amalina Ahmad, an International Relations major student with the University of Queensland, Australia.

We asked her some thought-provoking questions from our Thinkonomics set, a gameplay that consists of various thinking questions based on our five Leaderonomics values: Relationships, Empowering, Giving, Growth and Building the future.

Q&A with Nur Amalina

1. If you could have one super power, which would you choose? Why?

It would be great if I have the power to understand animals’ languages so that I can communicate and interact with them. I want to be able to know their challenges such as animal cruelty committed by us humans. It is important to know that they are sharing and living in the same world just like us, so why not give them a chance to express their feelings and voice out their discontent?

2. If you are the mayor of your city, what would you do to build the city for the future?

If I were selected to be the mayor of my super awesome city, I would definitely provide my people with the best public transportation system to all over the city. And of course, the fee will be cheaper compared to others. My city will be free from any traffic congestion, thus this helps reduce pollution.

3. What are you most grateful for?

Thank you to all the awesome people that I have met throughout my 22 years of life, especially my family and friends. They are my role models as well as my source of inspiration to become what I am today. Last but not least, I am very grateful with the presence of my cats. Meow!

4. If you could program your life into a virtual reality adventure game, what game would you be playing in?

I rarely play video games. But if I were to choose one game, I would like to become one of the characters in the Final Fantasy game. It amazes me how each of the character endures all the adventurous obstacles to complete their mission.

5. Have you been the kind of friend you would want as a friend?

I always wanted a funny and humourous person as my friends, as these characteristics are certainly in me too. Funny people with great sense of humour are hard to find but if you find one, don’t let them go.

6. Your hope for Malaysia.

I wish my beloved country will preserve its uniqueness in terms of culture and traditions because it is uncommon to see various races and ethnics living together in a place peacefully. I hope the new generations will never forget the sacrifices of our late heroes to achieve our independence.
