Adnan Lee’s first brush with fruits was when he helped out at his family’s fruit store during his secondary school days. Even though he dropped out from school, he found his true calling and started his own fruit business at Pasar Imbi Bukit Bintang, Jalan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur.
Today, Malaysians know this fruit business as MBG Fruit Shop, with MBG advocating “Money Back Guarantee”, where Lee is the managing director.
Leaderonomics had a chance to interview Lee on The Leaderonomics Show. Here are some key takeaways from the interview, a truly rags-to-riches Malaysian story.
- If you have a dream, do something about it. Be on a constant lookout for opportunities to make your dream a reality.
- Know your risks too. When you see a pattern of failures over and over again, change strategy. Change, you must, or the market will change you.
- Be strongly rooted in your core values. Uphold the integrity of your products and services with great care for your brand and customer loyalty.
- Work really hard for one-third of your life to enjoy the fruits of your labour in the next two-thirds of your remaining life.
