Life@Leaderonomics: When Your Office Feels Like Home

In the book The Why of Work: How Great Leaders Build Abundant Organizations That Win, authored by business professor Dave Ulrich and psychologist Wendy Ulrich, the search for meaning, significance and purpose of work is explored.

One of the principles mentioned in the book is that abundant organisations create positive work environments that affirm and connect people throughout the organisation. In fact, leaders who engender positive work environments promote good communication and development opportunities, while pleasant physical facilities help to enhance a positive culture at work.

 

So…?

Leaderonomics office was once featured as one of the top 10 most inspiring offices in Malaysia, alongside Google Malaysia and MindValley.

It wasn’t always like that back in the early years of Leaderonomics. It took some observations by the founders, Roshan Thiran and Ang Hui Ming to realise that people were opting to work from home more than being in office interacting with their peers and sharing ideas. As a result, they built an office that felt like home.

Middle of 2016, Leaderonomics hosted the filming of the Chinese thriller series Revolving Heart (now showing on ntv7) by Little Monkeys Productions. We asked the cast and crew what they thought about our office space.

The most memorable one came from its director Chan Wei Cheang who describes our ‘organised mess’ this way:

My first impression of the office is I felt that it was very colourful. It has this happy vibe. At times, this place seems messy, with so many things all over the place. Also at the same time, everything feels organised. It is a nice feeling that feels like home.

Yup, we are home indeed…
