Malaysia has seen a fair share of misappropriation of funds and money involving banks in the past years. It’s an honour that we had Elsa Pau Yuen-Ling, current publisher and chief executive officer of WealthAsia Group, to be on The Leaderonomics Show to talk about the pillars of creating sustainable wealth, philanthropy and making a difference from the financial/banking sector in Hong Kong.
Once named by AsiaWeek as one of Asia’s Most Influential Women, Pau, also the editor-in-chief of Benchmark magazine, shares some of the works and awards her team runs annually in recognising individuals and companies with the best practices/governance in the financial/banking industry.

Here are some key takeaways from the interview:

  • It’s possible to make a good living, purposefully and trust-worthily, and making an impact in the community at the same time.
  • When you do things right, people (clients and customers) will trust you and stay loyal with you. You will gain more in the long-run, not necessarily in terms of monetary, but reputation, trustworthiness and credibility.
  • Look at investing time and resources to participate in highly-recognised awards to know where you stand among your peers in the industry and know where you can improve.
  • It’s up to women to take up opportunities available to reach your goals and dreams. Don’t see yourself from the perspective of gender, but your strengths, talent and capabilities.
