Did you know that Malaysia Day was only declared a public holiday for the first time in 2010?

Even though it took us long to realise its significance, aren’t we all glad it was better late than never? September 16, 1963 was the day when a new nation was birthed, comprising Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore (Singapore opted out two years later).

How far have we come as Malaysians, or as a nation? And where are we heading moving forward? Have a thought this Malaysia Day, as we reflect on her past, present and future.

For now, nasi lemak, anyone?
