In 2000, Josh Green came to Malaysia as investment director at Navis Capital Partners, a private equity firm in Kuala Lumpur. During his nine-year tenure, Green took interim control of Europcar Australia as chief executive officer and managed a successful turnaround during its acquisition exercise. He was also lead investment professional on high-profile deals.

Green joined CIMB Private Equity in 2011 as the chief operating officer managing a team focused on improving portfolio company performance and turnarounds.

Perched on a high-stool at an oyster bar, Green recounted his achievements with candor, and genuine humility.

“Contrary to the sensible path of staying in one of the successful private equity firms like Navis or CIMB, my first hand experience of running the car company in Australia inspired me to use my experience to develop my own company,” he says happily.

Director and owner of Southern Rock Seafood, Green has now also established the chain of oyster and seafood bars called SHUCKED, with two outlets so far in the Klang Valley.

Giving back to Malaysians

In the midst of all this, Green found time to support Dignity and Services (D&S), a non-profit working for and with young adults with learning difficulties. Founded in 1991, it is an advocacy movement acting on behalf of, and alongside its beneficiaries.

As chairman, Green works to raise public awareness and advocates for change in the environment so that people with disabilities have the opportunity to lead an independent and meaningful life within the community. D&S has various programmes to teach basic life skills with the goal of learning to live independently.

Green is one of many in the expat community who not only contribute to Malaysia in their area of expertise, but also by devoting time and effort to community service. In Green, we get a trifecta: his professional, private business and community service contribution.

Why Efficiency at Home Matters More Than Ever for Modern Entrepreneurs

Now, entrepreneurship rarely fits within convenient office hours. Due to client calls, invoicing, content calendars, and business admin, the home often becomes the second workstation. Home efficiency is not a trend or a “nice to have” in that context; it helps you maintain your energy and focus so you can think clearly at the end of the day, rather than being drained by small, unnecessary delays.
