Well, after a brief spell of grief, return with lessons Roshan did. And as we know, he would go on to become one of their star employees.

The Man, The Myth, The Legend

I know I’m overthinking it, but It’s a little weird to write about Roshan on a site he technically owns. It’s even weirder knowing that he has a weekly column here, kind of like talking about someone in the third person while they’re well within earshot. Oh well!

As part of our Linkedpreneur series of interviews, we knew we had to score screen time with the man himself. Roshan’s reputation precedes him, but in a nutshell, he has over three decades of experience in management and entrepreneurship, which he was kind enough to share during our interview.

Grief in Failing

One of the biggest takeaways from Roshan was his realism with facing failure – by being aloof and brushing it off as a minor setback or ‘no big deal’, Roshan says you’re fooling no one but yourself.

Instead, the natural thing to do is to accept them and go through the process of grief that will follow. If you’ve done it right, at the end of the tunnel lies sincere gratitude.

Roshan isn’t all talk either. He shared an experience from his General Electric days when he failed to implement a new type of software in the company. The kicker was that this software cost the company 25 million USD.

That’s right. The company lost 25 million dollars. And Roshan was convinced he would lose his job.

Instead, his boss told him to lock himself in a room and come back with a list of lessons learned. Otherwise, he would get fired. Well, after a brief spell of grief, return with lessons Roshan did. And as we know, he would go on to become one of their star employees.

Looking back, how does he feel about the whole thing? Immensely grateful.

Of course, that’s just one of the takeaways from the interview, but if you want to find out about the others, you’ll have to watch the video below.
